Current News:

We would like to offer our CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Don S. Robertson on his retirement after 40 plus years of practicing veterinary medicine.  Dr. Robertson founded Oldtown Veterinary Hospital and managed and guided it to grow into the respected business it is today.  Under new ownership on February 1, 2008, Dr. Scott E. Schroeder states, "We will continue to strive to give extraordinary care to pets and their owners as the years continue."  We always invite our clients and new clients to visit and call whenever they need our services or information.

As reported by the Winston-Salem Journal on April 22, 2007:  "Oldtown Veterinary Hospital of Winston-Salem was re-accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association after a comprehensive evaluation.  The evaluation includes a quality-assessment review of the hospital system.  The hospital has been an accredited practice member of the association since 1969."

Our mobile service is available for all of our clients, but with great attention to those who have multiple pets, transportation problems, large dogs, etc.  All of our doctors are available for these services during an appropriately arranged schedule.  This service is not available on the weekend and is for non-emergency services.  Some services for these mobile visits include most well-checkups, vaccines, necessary blood work, intestinal parasite checks, etc.  If your pet needs to have further diagnostics/treatments, we can transport in the van.  Please call our office to speak with the mobile service receptionist for further information.

Our doctors are offering profiles of blood panels for dogs and cats ages five and older.  This blood work is available as an offer from our lab to give healthy baseline checking for:  liver enzymes, blood sugar levels, blood proteins, kidney functions, thyroid evaluations, red & white blood cells, platelets, and the presence of heartworm disease.  This blood work is essential in the evaluation of the pet's health in case of any surgical or anesthetic procedures or sudden health problems.  Please feel free to discuss this evaluation the next time you come in.

North Carolina's regulations of Rabies vaccinations have turned toward a more upscale approach at protecting our

pet(s).  Because of the increase in rabies activity this year, NC strongly supports revaccinating any pet that has come in contact with a wild animal.  Vaccinations for Rabies are required by law and carry a fine for anyone who owns a pet and is not in compliance with that law.

We remind you of the special need in North Carolina to protect your pets against fleas, ticks and heartworms.  We carry a full line of preventative products to protect your pet(s) year round.

Our staff is always anxious to help you with many of your needs.  Reminders are sent monthly to help you keep up-to-date with important needs of your pet.  We welcome your phone calls with questions regarding your pet(s) health care.
